When you turn on your computer, BIOS does several things after which immediately starts the boot manager. OSL2000 is a boot manager, which allows you to boot multiple operating systems including Linux, Windows, DOS, Solaris, BSD, BeOS, and others.
Every OS has a boot loader, and most times, you won’t need an extra one to start your operating systems. I know that some Linux boot loaders support booting into several operating systems. However, if you are not very familiar with these things and you really want to see another boot loader on your computer you could try OSL2000. Its installation is very simple. In fact, you have just two important buttons when you start the OSL2000 installer in Windows (”Install” and “Uninstall”). Advanced options can be passed to the installer by providing command line parameters.
After you install the software, a boot screen will appear when you start up your computer. You can use this startup screen to configure boot options. If you miss the days when DOS was the operating system of choice, you’ll be glad to see the way the startup screen looks like.
Pluses: I used this program to boot from my CD ROM drive on an old computer. This is also possible by using this software.
